Project: Hightop Table

Posted by: Dan in Projects Comments Off

After a taking a brief break from the Christmas rush, I was back in the garage building the next piece of furniture and this time it was a table for the kids to sit at in the kitchen.  Call it a hightop table, breakfast bar, pub table or anything else, but the item I used for inspiration was called a bistro table.  We already had some brown stools and wanted to build a table to match.

Project: Hall Table and Planter

Posted by: Dan in Projects Comments Off

December was a busy month since I was making a couple Christmas presents this year.  I had started a project but it got put on hold so I could finish the presents in time and it was really close.  I was putting the final coats of polyurethane on an oak hall table for my in-laws and also finishing up a cedar planter for my wife’s grandmother.  They both turned out nice and I’m glad I could give them both something special after all they have done for me.

Ryobi Band Saw

I’ve been wanting a band saw for awhile to be able to make fancier curved cuts so I got one for my birthday.  This Ryobi band saw looks small but it’s almost four feet tall and will be perfect for cutting the trim for the bench I am making for my daughter.

Project: Headboard

Posted by: Dan in Projects Comments Off

I recently finished my latest project: A headboard for my son’s bed with a shelf for storage.  It is also made from 1/2″ pine like the bookcase but is held together with pocket screws.  Then I bought some bolts to attach to his existing bed frame.

This was made to match the bookcase that I built a few months ago.

This is the inspiration for the headboard and I think it matches well.

This router and table was one of my recent purchases from Home Depot.  I used it a lot on this project.

Project: End Table

This project was an end table for our sunroom. This is one of my favorites because I really like the way it turned out. I used 3/4″ pine to give it a more beefy look and pocket screws to hold it all together.

This was my next project: A shelf for the kitchen with baskets to store hats and mittens.

Project: Bookcase/Toy Storage

Posted by: Dan in Projects Comments Off

This is the first project I took on: making a book case that could also hold toy bins made of fabric.  It has 3 shelves across and down with toy bins in 4 of them.  The others can be used for books or large toys.
